Operating Instructions for ICE CREAM MACHINE

(Electro Freeze CS4)


Initial clean before starting.

Plug in machine.

Lift off the black plastic cover from the top of the machine to expose the hopper.

Pull out the feed pipe (stainless steel pipe) from its location (feed hole), removing the inner plastic tube, laying them down inside the hopper.

Mix sanitizer with 10 litres of warm water and pour into the top hopper.

Move the left side switch on the machine to clean.

Leave to run for only five minute and then turn the switch to the off position.


Do not switch the toggle switch to auto, as it will freeze up the beater and you will not be able to make ice creams until it defrosts (quite a long time!).


Put a bowl under the dispenser controls.

Pull the dispenser lever down on the front of the machine until the sanitizer mix stops coming out.

Clean the outside of the machine with a clean cloth, J cloth, flannel or paper towels.


Making soft ice creams.

Replace the plastic tube into the stainless steel pipe and insert the complete assembled pipe into the feed hole until it seats firmly and the two rings are out of view. Make sure the feed hole is exposed at the top of the pipe. If not lift the plastic insert tube slightly out of the stainless steel pipe and turn a quarter of a turn exposing the hole, press the plastic tube back in to the pipe.


Pour at least four litres of ice cream mixture into the hopper to a maximum of 9 litres.

Pull the dispenser handle down on the machine, hold down until the sanitized water (if any) stops coming out and has been replaced by a flow of ice cream mixture. Release dispenser handle to stop flow. Fill hopper to the maximum marks (dimples on each corner) with ice cream mix.

Replace the black plastic cover over the hopper.

Switch the left hand switch to auto and the right hand switch to day.

Wait until the machine stops making a noise (compressor pump), this will take about 10 minutes.

Ice creams can now be served.


To make an ice cream.

Hold a cone under the dispenser handle, pull the lever down and with a circular swaying motion of the cone allowing the ice cream to fall on to the rim of the cone (not the into the centre of the cone), ending up with smaller whirls to a peak.

For hygiene safety; draw off about 2/3 ice creams and dispose of them before serving.

If the red light on the lower right front comes on, the machine is running low on ice cream mixture, lift the cover on the hopper and refill with ice cream mix.


Overnight refrigeration.

The ice cream mixture will stays in good condition for up to 4 days when not being served, so long as the machine is left plugged in to an electricity supply and set to the overnight refrigeration position.


Lift off the black plastic cover from the top of the machine to expose the hopper.

Close off the input flow of ice cream mix at the stainless steel tube by lifting the plastic tube insert by the bar at the top and turning the plastic tube a quarter of a turn to blank of the hole, reseating it back in the stainless steel tube .

Replace the black plastic cover over the hopper.

Switch the right hand switch to night, leaving the left hand switch in the auto position.

This is now set in refrigeration mode.


Restart making ice creams.

To reset the machine to make ice creams:

Lift off the black plastic cover from the top of the machine to expose the hopper.

Open up the input flow by lifting the plastic tube insert by the bar at the top and turning the plastic  tube a quarter of a turn, exposing the input hole, reseating it back in the stainless steel tube.

Top-up the hopper with ice cream mix..

Replace the black plastic cover over the hopper.

Switch the left hand switch to auto and the right hand switch to day.

Whilst the machine is freezing, clean the plastic star shaper at the bottom of the dispensing unit.

Wait until the machine stops making a noise (compressor pump), after about 10 minutes.

Ice creams can now be served.

For hygiene safety, draw off about 2/3 ice creams before serving to the public.



Cleaning the machine at the end of the event.


Move the left side switch to the clean position and the right hand switch to night position.

Wait a few minutes and lift off the black plastic cover from the top of the machine to expose the hopper. Pull out of the feed hole the stainless steel feed pipe and plastic insert tube, laying them down inside the hopper.

Drain of any ice cream mixture left in the hopper by placing a bowl / bucket under the dispensing unit and pull down the dispensing handle until the hopper is empty. Should the the bowl / bucket iget full first, empty bowl / bucket  and commence again until the hopper is empty of mixture.

Move left side switch to off position.

Mix up 5 litres of warm soapy water and pour into the hopper

Move the left side switch on the machine to clean.


Do not switch the toggle switch to auto, as it will freeze up the beater and you will not be able to proceed until it defrosts (quite a long time!).


Leave the machine to run for a five + minutes and then turn the switch to the off position.

Put a bowl under the dispenser controls.

Pull the dispenser lever down on the front of the machine until the water stops coming out.


Repeat the following process again:

Mix up 5 litres of warm  water and pour into the hopper.

Move the left side switch on the machine to clean.

Leave to run for a five + minutes and then turn the left side switch to the off position.


Do not switch the toggle switch to auto, as it will freeze up the beater and you will not be able to proceed until it defrosts (quite a long time!).


Put a bowl under the dispenser controls.

Pull the dispenser lever down on the front of the machine until the water stops coming out.


Clean the  outside of the machine with a clean cloth, J cloth, flannel or paper towels.


Turn off machine at the mains and remove plug.
