This street catering goes back to Victorian times, when the traditional way of roasting chestnut by the Roast Chestnut Vendor came in to a time period of it’s own.

During the months of November, December and January. Chestnuts become available and The Roast Chestnut Vendor applies his trade from his chestnut stand.

With his cart, he can fire-up the coals (or gas) to roast chestnuts and caramelise nuts!

Roasting chestnuts on an open fire is a wonderful seasonal delight, not only is it a visual presence but the aroma of the chestnuts and the chestnut shells burning over the fire, entices people to draw close to the cart, engaging in social chit chat, whilst tasting (sometime for the first time) the hot roasted chestnuts straight from the fire.

Our Roast Chestnut Vendor can make this attraction an event in itself by illuminating the festive lights on his cart and playing seasonal or piped organ music.

As an addition service to the Roast Chestnut Vendor, we also provide warm spiced mulled wine and hot mince pies, served by our dressed to suit the occasion staff. Warmed spiced wine by the glass and hot mince pies served straight from the oven.

Props are also available; Christmas trees, Santa’s Grotto, lights.
